Bob Bryant serves as the Principal for San Marcos Academy and President of the Accreditation Commission of the Texas Association of Baptist Schools. During his over 30 years in school leadership, he has served private schools with broad experience in multiple school improvement models, including SACS, TEA, ACTABS, ICAA, and ACSI. He continues to network stakeholders, provide teacher development using his years of involvement with the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS). He continues to demonstrate growing expertise in use of technologies in classroom and curriculum design through involvement with the International Society of Technology in Education (ISTE).
In this new century, information is ubiquitous and affordable. Rightly has someone commented that we are being infowhelmed. The “public square” has shifted from the town hall, to television industry, to the Internet. This technology has opened vistas of resources to the classroom teacher that would have been inconceivable only a short 10-years ago.
It is important that Christian educators engage the upcoming generations in this new forum. It is important that proven pedagogy not be rendered obsolete by a flurry of pseudo-science. As Christians, for whom the indwelling Spirit of the Creator God dwells; we should be at the forefront of making this new medium serve the purposes of the gospel, and not rest satisfied with the turn of the 20th century, assembly line model of education.
